If you’re anything like us, you love a good date night—whether it’s with your significant other or simply celebrating Gal-entines with your BFFs, date night is the perfect time to dress up and put a bit of extra effort into your look for the night. If you’ve already figured out your outfit and Valentine’s Day hair, congratulations! You’re one step further than the rest of us. If not, we’re here to help.
We’ve teamed up with our friend Elanna just in time for Valentine’s Day, to bring you three Valentine’s Day hair ideas. From sexy to casual to cute, there’s a hairstyle for you no matter what your vibe is. The best part about these hairstyles? They’re all done on straight hair so you can spend less time fussing with curls and more time with your Valentine.
Elanna uses a mixture of Seamless Chestnut Brown and Seamless Dirty Blonde to achieve additional depth and dimension to her hair color, however, this look can also be achieved with our new Seamless Chestnut Brown Balayage Luxies. This set is available in a standard 180g weight and 20″ length, melting Chestnut Brown into Dirty Blonde for a multi-dimensional effect.
Check out the video below or read on for text instructions on how to achieve each Valentine’s Day hair look.
Step 1
Go ahead and clip your Luxy Hair extensions in. If you are using a mixture of shades, simply stack them one on top of another when clipping them in to achieve that multi-dimensional effect. If you already have straight hair, you can straighten the wefts separately before clipping them in. Be sure to use a heat protectant spray and a maximum heat setting of 250F when heat styling your Luxies to avoid any damage to the hair.
Step 2
Once all your wefts are clipped in, brush through your hair from bottom to top to remove any tangles.
Step 3
Now, you’re going to go in and make the hairstyles sleeker. In small sections, brush through the hair, then follow closely with the hair straightener. Be sure to start straightening from the mid-shaft down, to avoid losing any volume at the roots. Once you reach the ends, curve them slightly inward for a feminine shape.
Step 4
To maintain that sleek, shiny look throughout your date night, add a little bit of hair oil. Rub the oil between your hands, then press down on either side of your hair, calming down any flyaways.
Step 1
Keep your Luxy Hair extensions clipped in for this hairstyle. Create a side part either on the left side or right side, at about the middle of your eyebrow. Then, remove the 2-clip weft on this side.
Step 2
Section off about 3 inches of hair and tie the rest of the hair away.
Step 3
Create a tight French braid with the small section of hair, being sure to pull the hair taut as you braid. This will keep the braid as close to your scalp as possible, ensuring it is nice and sleek. Once you’ve braided the whole section, pull the braid back, just covering the top of your ear, and bobby pin the ends down.
Step 4
Add some statement earrings, a bold, sexy, lip, and you’re ready!
Step 1
Remove the 2-clip wefts from either side of your head. Section off the top of your hair into a half ponytail, then clip these wefts in at the mid-center at the back of your head. This will allow the fishtail braid you are creating to be nice and full.
Step 2
Bring all your hair down and gather half your hair over the wefts. Then, split this entire section in two and start fishtail braiding your hair. In order to create a fishtail braid, simply take a small section of hair from the right side and cross it over to the left. Then, take a small section of hair from the left side and cross it over to the right. Repeat this process until the whole section of hair is braided.
Step 3
Once you’ve completed your braid, secure it with a hair elastic. If you have shorter layers around your face, twist them back and pin down with a bobby pin.
Step 4
Add a red lip, and you’re ready for your date!
