A Kim Kardashian red carpet appearance will always demand eyeballs, but there’s something about the Met Gala that’s extra special in the beauty department. For one, we knew she’d show her face this time around — who can forget the all-black, full-coverage Balenciaga number she brought to the last Met in September? — and we had a hunch she’d show up with Pete Davidson. But nothing could have prepared us for she pulled out of her bag of beauty tricks.
First, Kardashian brought out Marilyn Monroe’s actual 1962 “Happy Birthday Mr. President” dress, which, of course, was capital-M major red carpet fashion moment that needed a killer beauty look to match.
Since gilded age glamour was the theme of the night, Kardashian showed up in a platinum blonde, slicked-back bun courtesy of hairstylist Chris Appleton to pair with her naked dress and white fur coat. And when we say slick, we mean slick — you might get a ponytail headache just looking at it. But that’s a small price to pay for the absolute drama of it all.
