If Miley Cyrus is going to do anything, it’s add a super cool rocker vibe to absolutely everything, and that includes classic hairstyles in need of a modern update. We saw her do it with the shag and the mullet, and now, she’s taking on the defining hairstyle of the 1960s, the beehive. Actually, the look has been enjoying something of a resurgence in popularity these days. Just ask Megan Thee Stallion, who served a little Houston Hepburn moment a few months ago with her Breakfast at Tiffany‘s-inspired updo boasting almost-baby bangs. Anya Taylor-Joy sports another polished version of the look in Last Night in Soho, this time in a half-up, half-down style complete with long bangs.

But as we said, Cyrus is all about that grit, that grunge, that rock and roll, so naturally, her beehive is gonna have a little stank on it. For the cover of Perfect magazine, we see the singer dressed in a sparkly two-piece Gucci set complete with a flouncy feather trim. She’s carrying a little gold purse and wearing a similar half-up style as Taylor-Joy, but this one has more texture. It’s a little bit shaggy, with loose, air-dried-looking waves. Cyrus posted an image of the cover (which you can see here) on February 19 to her Instagram feed with the caption, “Nobody’s Perfect.”

Yeah, but this hair is. Updos can sometimes look really sculpted and neat, which is all good, but this all-muss, no-fuss interpretation of the style feels more carefree yet glamorous — kind of like Miley herself. This look is great inspiration for anyone who wants to try the trend but might not vibe with the perfect-perfect version of it. We’re seeing this for warm spring and summer nights overlooking a cityscape in a rooftop dining situation, or maybe, as a really cool and easy option for a fancy outdoor picnic.

Either way, we’re bookmarking this page because this is absolutely a look just begging to be recreated.
