As much as we love full-coverage foundations, sometimes all we want is a light enhancement to our complexions. That’s when we reach for a skin tint, which tends to provide a sheerer, more buildable veil of coverage than their thicker counterparts. If you’re on the hunt for a lightweight formula that’s also infused with the benefits of your usual skin-care products, look no further than a new favorite in the Allure office, the Summer Fridays Sheer Skin Tint. Six of our staffers put this new dew enhancer — the brand’s first foray into makeup, in fact — to the test, and spoiler alert: they all had glowing results.
Since Summer Fridays is one of the most popular skin-care brands of the moment, it’s only natural for the brand to spike the Sheer Skin Tint with a few skin-nourishing additives. Sensitive skin types, rejoice: this ultra-light formula treats your skin to a dose of redness-calming tiger grass, also known as cica. “Cica is believed to soothe and repair irritated skin,” Ellen Marmur, MD, a New York City-based board-certified dermatologist previously told Allure.
Dryness be damned, because this fluid formula also contains two skin-conditioning ingredients: hyaluronic acid and squalane. “[Hyaluronic acid] is great at holding water and giving skin resilience and firmness,” New York City-based board-certified dermatologist Doris Day, MD, previously noted to Allure. As for squalane, board-certified dermatologist Samantha Fisher, MD, previously told Allure that this additive acts as an emollient and “aids in skin-care problems wherein the skin barrier is disrupted and transepidermal water loss is an issue.”
